If you are interested in participating in one or more of our programs, please follow these steps. A staff person will contact you once we receive your packet or form to arrange for a visit to the farm.

To provide the highest quality experiences, we limit the number of participants in each program so apply early to reserve your place. If the program is already full, we will be happy to put your name on a waiting list.

Application Checklist
Horse SenseAbility Programs (except City to Saddle)
  1. If you or your child are interested in attending a Horse SenseAbility program (other than City to Saddle), please complete and return our online Participant Packet

  2. You also need to send the Medical Provider Form to your doctor to fill out and return before you or your child can participate in any of our programs (other than City to Saddle).

  3. No matter which program you or your child will be attending at Horse SenseAbility, please review our Participant Manual and sign the Participant Manual Statement of Completion before you start.

City to Saddle Summer Program
  1. If your 6 to 13 year old is interested in the City To Saddle program, please complete and submit the online City to Saddle Enrollment Form and mail the $15 per person commitment fee to Horse SenseAbility, 16 Nason Hill Lane, Sherborn MA 01770.

  2. Please review our Participant Manual and sign the Participant Manual Statement of Completion before your child starts the program.

Program Fees

Horse SenseAbility offers multiple terms of riding and horsemanship lessons each year plus several weeks of summer programming. Pre-payment is required once a participant is added to our schedule.

Note that our therapeutic riding lessons typically incorporate essential horsemanship skills (e.g., grooming & tacking up) in addition to actual "time in the saddle." 

Through the generosity of the Sherborn Business Association, any child with special needs who lives in Sherborn is eligible for a $240 scholarship as long as funds are available.

What is your cancellation policy?
  • If you cancel, refunds and make-ups are not provided. Once you sign up for lesson, we reserve that spot specifically for you and cannot fill it even though you are absent. If you are unable to attend a regularly scheduled lesson, please notify us as soon as possible by calling 508-744-6774, texting 508-306-8954 or sending an email to

  • If Horse SenseAbility cancels, all reasonable attempts will be made to notify you in a timely manner. In the case of such a cancellation, we will schedule a make-up lesson. 

  • If the weather is inclement, Horse SenseAbility will conduct an unmounted session instead of riding if possible. If the Dover-Sherborn Public Schools cancel or delay due to weather, we will offer a make-up lesson. 

How do I request financial support?

To request financial support, please fill out and submit our online Scholarship Application for consideration by our Board of Directors. In addition, ask us about foundations and state agencies who may provide individual assistance.

Do you offer recreational riding lessons?

Traditional recreational riding lessons are available on a limited basis for family members of current participants. For more information about schedules, rates and fees, please contact us

Do you bill insurance companies?

Horse SenseAbility does not bill insurance companies. However, we will gladly provide a receipt for therapeutic riding and horsemanship lessons that you can submit for reimbursement to your insurance company.
