I know my time spent at Horse SenseAbility helps bring joy to others. The participants have the opportunity to challenge themselves, grow their skills and feel successful!

We generally need volunteers to be:

  • BARN HELPERS work with staff to care for the horses and keep their environment safe and clean.

  • HORSE LEADERS steer and manage the horse during a lesson as needed. The horse leader is responsible for the horse not the rider and must have significant, recent experience with horses.

  • SIDE WALKERS provide physical and emotional support to the rider as needed. A side walker must have significant, recent experience with horses.

  • HORSEMANSHIP HELPERS assist participants doing unmounted therapeutic activities such as grooming, learning equine body language and engaging in educational games. Horsemanship helpers must have significant, recent experience with horses.

  • OFFICE VOLUNTEERS assist the Executive Director with tasks such as fundraising, logging lessons and creating social media posts.

All volunteers receive one-on-one training before starting. Volunteers must be 18 or older.
